IMPROVING YOUR HEALTH WITH SEX

The very mention of sexual health brings monstrous words like HIV/AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhea, Chlamydia infection, yeast infection, erectile dysfunction and impotence to mind. Agreed, these conditions are caused by sex, but there is also a less-explored positive view on sex.

It is an undeniable fact that sex is the most pleasurable activity that people can do with their bodies. There are certainly several health benefits of such a pleasurable activity. Here we discuss some of these health benefits.

A statistical report of as far back as the nineteen seventies indicates that people who had a better sex life also had better longevities. Women who really experienced orgasms lived longer than women who never did.

In a study carried out in Sweden at around the same time, there was direct indication that men who had an active sexual life, but gave up, stood a higher risk of sudden dying.

It was in 1976 that a much-celebrated report was released, which stated that women who are dissatisfied in sex have greater chances of heart attacks. Even reputed publications like the British Medical Journal state that men who have sex on a regular basis will live to a much longer age than those who have intermittent sex, or no sex for long periods of time.

With so many reports on sexual health linked to longevity, it was apparent that someone would question what the relation actually was. It was a team of experts in Great Britain that actually set out to put a figurative and confirmatory base to this. They took a sample of a thousand men in the age group of 45 to 59 years from Caerphilly in Wales. These men were asked to rate their sexual frequency to the point of absolute frankness. Then this sample was divided into three groups – men having sex more than twice a week, men having sex less than once a month and men having an intermediate frequency of sex.

After one decade, these men were followed up. It was found that the death rate in the men in the lowest frequency category was about twice that of the men in the highest frequency category. Even people in the middle category had a death rate of about 1.6 times that of the highest sexually active frequency group. Not only that, similar trends were seen in coronary heart disease and geriatric problems.

Certainly, there are questions that can be asked. Is there a direct relation between the number of times a person has sex and the longevity of the person? Are people with poor health conditions unhealthy because they do not have good sexual activity? Or is it the other way round? And what about external factors like depression, consumption of alcohol and smoking and inert physical activity? How do they influence the frequency of sex, and hence longevity and health of a person?

Experts did carry out further tests to answer these questions. They found that even after correcting the aberrant conditions of alcoholism and smoking, depression and other such problems, the trends shown in longevity and health conditions remained the same. This clearly indicated that there was just one factor that influenced these factors – and that was the frequency of sex.

Expert Opinions about Sex and Health

Today, medical studies have shown that there is indeed a deep-seated relationship between the number of times you have orgasm and the mortality rate. Such studies have a strong biological and epidemiological basis to them. Further investigations are still going on, with sample teams having at least five times sex a day to bring forth substantial results. However, there is a dire need for more investigation and research in this field.

One study has shown very concrete results. The conclusion of this study was that if the number of orgasms were increased by hundred per year, then the death rate would be reduced by 36%.

Medical Suggestions

Doctors prescribe a sexual frequency of at least twice per week. This frequency is better with regards to side effects than most other prescribed frequencies. This will at least make your life qualitatively better, if not quantitatively.
